Santa Ponsa is one of the key historical towns in Mallorca, being the site where King James the First landed on September 12 1229 in his successful quest to conquer the island and take it from the Moors after more than 300 years of Muslim rule.
A cross at the entrance to the marina marks the spot where James landed and every September this spot plays host to a reconstruction with a mock battle between the Moors and Christians on the beach followed by a fabulous two week fiesta of fabulous events.
Sandy beaches for Perfect Family Time
Set around 20 minutes’ drive from the Capital city of Palma and around 30 minutes’ drive from the airport, Santa Ponsa has since the 1960’s become one of the islands major tourist resorts, mainly set around the main beach, with its lovely golden sand and shallow crystal clear waters, this resort is popular with many Europeans. caters very well for this with lots of fun filled activities for all ages.
